B.S. Education     University of the Cumberlands, Williamsburg, KY

I have 26 years of experience in education.  My career began in McCreary County Schools at Stearns Elementary in Stearns, KY.  I was there for two years as a first grade teacher.  After that, I was a Kindergarten  and first grade teacher at Liberty Chapel Elementary in Cleburne, TX for the next 5 years.  Then I moved to the private school setting for two years where I had a first and second grade split class.  Finally, I moved to Cleveland, TN where I taught one year at Calvary Christian School where I also had a split class.  My years in Bradley County began at Trewhitt Elementary where I taught sixth grade and later became the Title 1 reading instructor.  After Trewhitt closed, I moved to Charleston Elementary where I was aTitle 1 and first grade teacher and now I am the Instructional Coach.

I was raised in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky and I can relate very much to Cynthia Rylant's book When I was Young in the Mountains.   I come from a long line of educators.  My grandfather was a teacher and administrator in Perry County, KY.  The elementary school that I went to was named for him.  My high school was named for my uncle who was also a long time educator.  My mother also taught in Perry County for a number of years.  My youngest daughter is also pursuing a career in education.

After college, I moved to Fort Worth , Texas where two of my children were born.  I have lived and worked in Cleveland for the past 21 years.  I became a Grammy two years ago when we welcomed Perry into our lives and things have never been the same. This past November Macy Zo came into our family and we welcome Ayzlyn as one of our grands.

I enjoy reading, walking and playing with my grandchildren.
